So, I've taken up a commitment in the last 3 weeks I'm excited to share with you...

I'm a "SoleMate". No, not the kind we find or have in our happily ever after stories, but another true kind we become when we take the soles of our feet, and ground them to a cause. A Solemate supports girls in putting one foot in front of the other; building self-confidence, self-strength, and self-love. This group of girls I am talking about is called, 'Girls on the Run.'

Solemate Mary Kim's Journey

In the last 8 years of being the treasurer for Girls on the Run, I have become a true believer in the efforts and results of all the volunteers of this organization. A 5K race called The Color Run, inspired me to run for "the Girls!" So, I was able to recruit my daughter, and a dear friend and her daughter to become the team called Swift Fury! And just so you don't think this is all about "girls" we have one male team member - no discrimination here! By having friends and colleagues support our team and raise money for a worthy cause, I am truly living the American Dream! All through running.

Girls on the Run is a great program for young girls. It helps build their self-esteem and helps empower them to follow their dreams. Ella participated in Girls on the Run and loved her experience. She had fun and learned that exercising made her feel good. Girls on the Run has made a difference in so many lives here in the Wood River Valley and I want to help them continue their great work!

Taylor, my daughter, has been doing Girls on the Run for the past 3 years, and I can see what a difference it has made in her life.

Solemate Susie's Journey

On August 17th and 18th I am participating in something bigger than anything I have ever been involved with before. I have joined a running team of 12 people and together we will run a relay over 180 miles long! We will start in Ashton, Idaho and run through Island Park, Grand Targhee and finish in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I will be running 3 legs of this relay totaling over 15 miles through some of the most beautiful country a person could ever see. I will run regardless of the weather....I will run through the night with a headlamp and reflective clothing and I will run because my team is depending on me.
