Girls on the Run pays it forward...
Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2:24PM I just wanted to send you a little note to let you know how much I have enjoyed running as a SoleMate for Girls on The Run.
As you know...My training started last March when I decided to run my first 1/2 marathon. By the way, I had not run since high school. Well, needless to say I "caught the running bug"! I ran the GT Relay 180 mile relay in August (our team was 14 out of 175) and now have my biggest goal before me, The Chicago Marathon! I have been running 4-5 days a week and have have my longest run to date tomorrow morning... 20 miles!
The training process has been an amazing experience and I have not only gotten stronger physically but mentally as well. One of the many things I have learned is, endurance running is very mental AND cheaper than therapy - ha, ha!! :) I know I have been a positive influence on my family. My daughter is excited to join the GOTR program in the Spring.
Bottom line, I signed up to help support a cause I believe in - GOTR, however, GOTR has supported me in SO many ways. I have gained such tremendous respect for the people involved in the organization, they give their time endlessly. GOTR has supported me in all three races I have run ... well, the biggie is only a few weeks away. I have a great GOTR shirt to run in for all the races, a Fuel Belt that carries my water/fuel (I can't run with out!), a GOTR visor to protect me from the sun and a heart full of motivation I have gained from this great program.
I am proud to be apart of Girls On The Run and see the impact it has on all levels!!
You and your team do a fantastic job, keep up the great work!!
