Hello GOTR families,

I hope your daughters enjoy their first three or four weeks of Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole! We are having fun, toughing out the weather, and making important connections so far this season! We wanted to give a few important reminders, details about their final 5k event on November 18th, and ways you can engage with us and your daughter to help make a super successful experience for all. Feel free to email me with general questions, or contact your site's coaches for group specific happenings.

In girl spirit,

Mary Fauth, Executive Director
Girls on the Run of the Wood River Valley

▪With frequent weather changes, please help your daughters to remember to bring appropriate clothes for running outside, and running shoes so they can run effectively. We have discounted shoes for purchase, or donated shoes if you're already demonstrated need.

▪Thanks to the caregivers that are able to supply snack once, maybe twice in a season. Snack usually isn't given until after practice is finished, so if you can stow away a quick nibble in their backpacks for after school as many girls are VERY hungry at that point.

▪You should've received a welcome letter with a lesson outline, plus a "Grown-Up" guide during the first few sessions. If you're missing either of those, be sure to check in with your coach.

▪We will be hosting sessions on Halloween day (Tuesday), but not Thursday Nov. 9th due to Blaine County elementary school having no school.

Starting next week, girls will receive information about an optional "Run-Raiser." We have fun prizes for the girls if they choose to participate. It's a great way for them to share with family, friends and neighbors about what they are learning and the goal they've set to run a 5k, while helping to make sure scholarships are available for ALL girls that want to join Girls on the Run. Thanks in advance for reviewing that with your daughter.

We will again run our final 5k on the trails at Swiftsure Ranch south of Bellevue. This is a 5k event just for the girls and the important people in their life. Girls will need a running buddy, so please either plan to join her or help her to invite a high school aged or older person to run/walk with her. The back of the "Grown-Up" guide has a 5k training plan if you'd like to undertake the challenge!

We are getting ready to announce our online auction and preview of live auction items in connection with Lunafest to be held on Friday, November 3rd. You can have the first peek at what we have so far in the auction, as well as get ticketsto join us for a run & inspiring event.

If you have a product or service you could donate to the auction, we'd greatly appreciate it. Some ideas could include: a vacation rental in a near by location, pamper like services/product for our "Pamper Me" raffle, unique or one of a kind made items, gift certificates, etc. Donate your item by submitting this donation form.
